Definition: The material transported or fluid handled designates objects that are transported with a conveying system.
Materials transported can be solid, gaseous, and liquid media as well as mixtures of materials. Solid media are differentiated between bulk materials and parceled goods.
In fluid conveying, the material transported describes the fluid to be pumped. Components of the material transported can be one or several phases. A phase describes a portion of the medium that features identical chemical and physical properties.
